Description:

  • The P0720 fault code indicates that there is a problem with the output speed sensor circuit. This sensor is responsible for measuring the speed of the transmission's output shaft. This fault may cause the transmission to operate incorrectly or not at all.

Possible Symptoms:

  • Transmission may not shift correctly or not work at all

  • Illuminated check engine light

  • Harsh shifting

  • Decreased fuel efficiency.

Possible Causes:

  • Faulty output speed sensor

  • Damaged or corroded wiring in the output speed sensor circuit

  • Failed engine control module (ECM)

  • Malfunctioning turbine speed sensor

Related Parts:

  • Output Speed Sensor: The output shaft connects the wheels to the gearbox. Output speed sensor monitors the speed at which the output shaft is rotating. This car's malfunctioning sensor will lead to reduced performance & poor acceleration

Possible Solutions:

  • Replace the output speed sensor

  • Repair any damaged or corroded wiring in the output speed sensor circuit

  • Replace engine control module (ECM) if necessary

  • Repair or replace the turbine speed sensor if necessary
