P0713

2017-10-10

Description:

  • The fault code P0713 indicates that there is a high input in the circuit that controls the transmission fluid temperature sensor. This may cause the transmission to shift improperly or not at all.

Possible Symptoms:

  • Illuminated check engine light

  • Harsh or delayed shifting

  • Transmission slipping or not engaging

  • Poor fuel economy

Possible Causes:

  • Faulty transmission fluid temperature sensor

  • Shorted wiring or connections in the circuit

  • Corroded or damaged electrical connections

  • Failed transmission control module (TCM)

Related Parts:

  • Transmission Fluid Temperature Sensor: Gear fluid line delivers gear fluid/oil between the various gear parts that need lubrication. The Gear fluid temperature sensor monitors the fluid temperature in the line. Problems lead to difficulty in shifting gears

Possible Solutions:

  • Replace the transmission fluid temperature sensor

  • Check and repair any damaged wiring or connections

  • Clean or replace any corroded electrical connections

  • Replace the transmission control module (TCM) if necessary
