P0710

2017-10-10

Description:

  • The fault code P0710 indicates that there is an issue with the circuit responsible for monitoring the transmission fluid temperature. This may cause the transmission to shift poorly or not at all.

Possible Symptoms:

  • Illuminated check engine light

  • Transmission shifts erratically or not at all

  • Delayed or harsh shifting

  • Overheating transmission

Possible Causes:

  • Faulty transmission fluid temperature sensor

  • Wiring or connections in the circuit are damaged or corroded

  • Failed engine control module (ECM)

  • Low transmission fluid level

  • Malfunctioning transmission control module (TCM)

Related Parts:

  • Transmission Fluid Temperature Sensor: Gear fluid line delivers gear fluid/oil between the various gear parts that need lubrication. The Gear fluid temperature sensor monitors the fluid temperature in the line. Problems lead to difficulty in shifting gears

Possible Solutions:

  • Replace the transmission fluid temperature sensor

  • Check and repair any damaged wiring or connections

  • Check and refill transmission fluid level

  • Replace the engine control module (ECM) if necessary

  • Replace the transmission control module (TCM) if necessary
