Catalyst Temperature Sensor: A catalyst is a chemical substance that takes the exhaust gas stream from the engine and converts toxic gases and pollutants to less harmful pollutants. The function of the catalyst temperature sensor is to warn the car computer if temperature of the catalyst goes above the safe limit. Problems lead to harmful emissions out of limit
Replace the catalytic converter
Check and repair any damaged or corroded wiring or connections in the sensor circuit
Replace the sensor connector if necessary
Replace the temperature sensor
Replace the engine control module (ECM) if necessary
