Check Engine Light illuminated
Poor engine performance
Decreased fuel efficiency
Failed emission test
Possible rough idling or stalling
Faulty heated oxygen sensor (HO2S)
Open or short circuit in the HO2S heater control circuit
Faulty engine control module (ECM)
Heated Oxygen Sensor: This is one of the parts that fails very commonly. It measures the amount of oxygen to ensure proper combustion. Problems in the Oxygen Sensor lead to poor fuel economy
Test and replace the faulty heated oxygen sensor (HO2S), if necessary
Inspect and repair any open or short circuits in the HO2S heater control circuit
Test and replace the engine control module (ECM) if it is determined to be faulty
